Anthony Davis, James Harden, and Stephen Curry to Grace Cover of ‘NBA 2K16’

The group cover is back

In 2013, NBA 2K sported 3 superstars on their cover: Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose, and went on to place one of those stars–Kevin Durant–by himself on the cover of the game two years later, on NBA 2K15. This year, three people grace the cover once again.

MVP and MVP runner-up, Stephen Curry and James Harden, grace the cover of NBA 2K16 along with Anthony Davis, who just had a breakout year that had him in the MVP conversation for much of the regular season, before the race was pretty much whittled down to Curry and Harden. The game will also feature direction from Spike Lee, who took charge of the MyCareer mode, which is quickly beoming the 2K franchise’s most popular draw.

It’s only the second time the game has featured three cover athletes on the same cover. In 2012, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were all cover stars, but they each had their own individual covers.

BTS Of Spike Lee’s Latest Film “Chiraq”

The cast gathered at the very first table read for the upcoming film.  Most of the cast has already been confirmed: Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack,Wesley Snipes, Jeremy PivenCommon, Nick Cannon and Jennifer Hudson.

“Chiraq” is described as a drama centered on the growing violence in Chicago. According to IMDB the film is categorized as a comedy, drama, and musical.

LaLa Anthony is also rumored to be joining the cast, and was seen out and about in Chicago with Derrick Rose’s baby’s mother Mieka Reese recently.

Billboard magazine recently interviewed Terence Blanchard, the man responsible for much of the music in Spike Lee’s movies. He revealed that Chicago native Kanye West may produce some music for the upcoming film, to be released some time in 2016:

I know you’ve done the scores for many of Spike Lee’s movies — has he asked you to get involved in Chiraq, his upcoming musical about gang violence on Chicago?

Yes, I’m going to write the score. He’s just starting to shoot right now, so there hasn’t been anything to look at just yet.

Have you heard anything about Kanye being involved in the score?

Yeah, I think he’s going to produce a few things, some songs. That’s something me and Spike still have to talk about. Common‘s in it too, so I don’t know if he’s going to do any songs.

Mayor of Chicago Upset About Upcoming Film Chiraq

It has been reported that legendary filmmaker Spike Lee will be shooting an upcoming film called Chiraq. While some people are excited to see the seldom told story about the city of Chicago, some people are upset about the upcoming film. According to MSNBC, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is not too happy about the film, in fact he even reached out to Lee to change the name.

Emanuel spoke on speaking to Lee about changing the name even though many people know the Windy City for it’s constant violence.

We had an honest, frank conversation,” Emanuel said last month. “He said that while the movie is about the neighborhood of Englewood, I said that I was not happy about the title.”

Mayor Emanuel is not the only one upset about about the film. Last week, Alderman Will Burns proposed to a proposition to Chicago City Council to deny giving Lee a $3 Million tax break for shooting in Chicago. Not everyone is behind Alderman Burns and Emanuel for the naming of the film. Other public figures in the community such as Father Michael Pfleger agrees with Lee and thinks the name should stay for the movie.

Details about the film have not been released, but already major names are already attached to the movie such as Chicago natives Common, John Cusack, possibly Kanye West, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Spike Lee To Direct ‘Chiraq’ Film, Featuring Kanye, Common, Samuel Jackson, More

Amazon brings some heavy-hitters together for new Spike joint

Last year’s Golden Globe Award-winning TV series Transparent brought Amazon enough exposure to be mentioned as a force to be reckoned with, alongside Hulu and Netflix, when it comes to original internet TV and movie programming. They aren’t stopping there.

Today, The Wrap has revealed the internet retailer’s plans for a Spike Lee-directed film, Chiraq, which will bring together the talents of several talented actors and creatives–Kanye West, Common, Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Piven are among them. Jackson is the only of the four not born or raised in either Chicago or a neighboring city (Piven was born in Evanston, IL, a 25-minute drive from Chi-town).

Details on the project are scarce, but one can imagine what Chiraq‘s plot will be centered around. The term became popular during Chief Keef and his 300 crew’s rise to prominence in 2012, when their raps and guerilla music videos about violence became an American major label fascination. In fact, Noisey, the music division of Vice Media, shot an 8-part documentary involving Keef and several of his comrades in 2014, and titled it Noisey: Chiraq.
