The Thorton Brothers dropped their first full length studio release on this date in 2002
12 years ago, Terrence and Gene Thorton aka Pusha T and Malice put out ‘Lord Willin’, The Clipse‘s debut album that helped them solidify their spots within honorable mention of some of the best lyricists in the game.
Produced exclusively by the Neptunes on Pharrell Williams’ Star Trak imprint, the album displayed The Clipse’s microphone prowess, which helps the squares navigate through their cocaine flooded street slang. Along with artists like Timbaland and Magoo, Missy Elliot and Pharrell, The Clipse was an intricate part of establishing VA as one of the East Coast’s strongholds in Hip Hop, which made room for artists like Chris Brown and Wale to add on to the legacy.
Some of the most memorable gems from the Twin Thorton’s first album include “Cot Damn” featuring their Re-Up Gang affiliates Ab-Liva and Philly’s Roscoe P. Coldchain, “When The Last Time” with their Star Trak team members Kelis and Pharrell and the infamous “Grindin'” with remixes featuring Noreaga, and another infamous duo, Lil Wayne and Birdman.
Salute to Pusha, No Malice, Pharrell and the rest of the Star Trak team for pushing out this timeless classic!
Alicia Keys just released her brand new single “28 Thousand Days.” The title “28 Thousand Days” references the average life span of a person which is 76 years. The song is all about living life to it’s fullest, and Seizing the day. Here’s a closer look at the lyrics:
“There’s only 28,000 days. Who would you love, where would you go, what would you celebrate. I’m tellin’ you that life’s too short to just throw it away. So have the time of your life,”
“I’ve been dyin’ to share this new music with you! And this is just the beginning believe me!!” she said. She’s been cooking something up in the studio with husband Swizz Beats, and Pharrell, hopefully we’ll get an album soon.

Diddy has been a very busy man. At last month’s BET Awards he reunited on stage with Bad Boy artists Ma$e, Styles P and Jadakiss (Lox), 112, Lil Kim and Faith Evans for Bad Boy’s 20th anniversary. Days later he announced they will be taking their reunion on the road, on the Bad Boy Family Tour.
The Hip-Hop mogul has been working on a new album, and debuted its newest single with super producer Pharrell Williams, titled “Finna Get Loose,” at the BET Awards. Puff is still working on his oft-teased MMM, album, but according to the latest addition to Bad Boy Records, Gizzle, Puff is also currently working on No Way Out 2 (NWO2). Gizzle also claims that NWO2 will be Puff‘s last album ( yeah right!). The album will be the follow-up to 1997’s iconic No Way Out LP, which Diddy and company released under the moniker Puff Daddy & The Family.
Gizzle confirmed this at ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. “I’m working on Puff Daddy’s last album,” said Gizzle. “It’s called No Way Out 2. It’s a crazy project. I’m very honored to be a part of it. Nobody can make an album like Puff Daddy. I’ll be actually rapping on there too.” Gizzle continued “No Way Out 2 will be Puff’s final album. It’s one of a kind. The mindset is to just be classic and be epic and to really live up to that. We know it’s a tall order, but we welcome the challenge.” When asked about Puff’s previously announced album, Gizzle said “I think MMM is something else, you’ll be surprised. It’s a lot of cool things going on.”
If you follow Diddy on Instagram you will notice that he has been using the No Way Out 2 title on Instagram with the hashtag #NWO2.
Last night, Puff Daddy re-united the feel good crew of the 90’s, the Bad Boy Family, featuring performances from Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, Faith Evans, Mase, French Montana and an iconic performance from Lil’ Kim on “All About The Benjamins.” Though Pharrell wasn’t part of the reunion, he joined Puff on stage to world premiere a new record, presumably off Puff’s forthcoming album, MMM, “Finna Get Loose.” The song was received well by the crowd, not to mention Chris Brown abruptly jumped on stage, then proceeded to dance battle someone in the aisle.
Today, after vaguely announcing a Bad Boy and The Family tour on Instagram late last night, Puff has officially released the single, dubbed new music from “Puff Daddy and The Bad Boy Family,” “Finna Get Loose.” Stream the track below, or grab it on iTunes here.
