T.I. Ends Business Relationship With Iggy Azalea

Fresh from releasing a surprise EP Da’Nic last week, the King of the South T.I. paid a visit to Hot 97‘s Ebro In The Morning to discuss his whereabouts in the past few months as well as his plans for the rest of the year. During the conversation, Tip spoke on the success of his reality show The Family Hustle as well as his forthcoming album Dime Trap, slated for release later this year. Staying on the creative front, he also discussed the possible sequel to the film ATL and the red tape he encountered when attempting to bring the film to fruition.

Outside of music and film, T.I. managed to dodge several questions regarding the Meek MillDrake feud, which resulted in the Philadelphia rapper spilling the beans on a T.I. associated who allegedly urinated on Drizzy in the middle of a movie theater. As well as he played keep away on that question, the Atlanta native was very candid about the end of his business relationship with Australian star Iggy Azalea. He explains that he attempted to shield her from the backlash she encountered in the past year, but he waved the white flag after her skirmish with Hip-Hop legend Q-Tip on Twitter.

After the Q-Tip thing… After I kind of had smoothed it over, like okay, ‘What is really meant to be said here is…’ After it was cool, everything was cool, and then they kind of came back and undid what I had just [accomplished],” he said. “I’ma be all the way real, I’m a loyal partner. If I rock with you I’m gon’ rock with you…I really do feel that they [Iggy’s team] just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they [Iggy’s team] can do. They have the talent, they have the charisma.

DJ Mustard Throws Shade At “Fancy” & “Classic Man”

DJ Mustard self proclaims himself the heart beat of the West Coast sound

Meanwhile producers of the Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Jidenna’s “Classic Man” are in the midst of a legal battle, DJ Mustard jumps on Twitter to give a friendly reminder that he is the originator of that west coast sound and is keeping it alive.

He wrote on a post that he deleted: “Fancy was a rip off… Classic mans a rip off… Str8 up!”  He also tweeted that he doesn’t plan to take legal action.

Take a look at DJ Mustard’s mini rant:

Nick Young’s Summer Tour Counties, Next Stop is Lip Sync Battle

Nick Young’s is trying to add “lip singing champ” to the list of his accomplishments. Swaggy P and fiancee Iggy Azalea were contestants on the Spike TV show Lip Sync Battle.

The Spike show released a preview of the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard going all out for his rendition of Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again”—tight black pants and all.

The full episode will premiere this Thursday, and will have social media talking immediately after.

Iggy Azalea Monetarily Benefits from Jidenna’s “Classic Man”

Jidenna’s “sound alike” 2015 anthem is helping pad Iggy’s wallet

Last year, Iggy Azalea became pop’s signature overnight star, enjoying a rare extended stay at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to her smash hit “Fancy,” which became the subject of controversy throughout awards season earlier this year.

This year, a new anthem incorporating those infectious Bay area-inspired drums and synthesizers is looking to claim the summer’s crown, and that’s Jidenna‘s “Classic Man.” Wondaland Records’ inaugural release has shot up the charts, and comfortably sits in the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 40, and the Kendrick Lamar-featured remix will more than likely improve upon that positioning. Aside from the songs’ similar sonic backgrounds, there’s another interesting tidbit that connects them.

Earlier today, a Twitter user asked Iggy Azalea about Jidenna’s “Classic Man,” and she revealed that she gets paid every time the song gets played.

Well, if you’re one of those people that hates “Fancy,” here’s one more reason.

Iggy Azalea is officially engaged!

Last night, Lakers star Nick Young AKA Swaggy P proposed to his longtime girlfriend Iggy Azalea at his own 30th birthday party in Los Angeles.
He allegedly gave Iggy a 10 CARAT diamond ring to close the deal.

He captioned the above photo, “She said yes. It’s over man. I’m getting married!”

Congrats to the couple!

Iggy Azalea Has Cancelled Her ‘Great Escape’ Tour

After a postponement and the loss of two opening acts, Iggy’s just going to stay home

Iggy Azalea‘s Great Escape Tour was scheduled to be her first arena tour, the victory lap she would take after a record-setting year that included Grammy nominations, #1 hits and performances on some of music’s biggest stages. She went from T.I.‘s protege to an international pop star, and despite the controversies that plagued her via social media, there was no debating the fact that she’d arrived.

The tour, which was expected to feature Tinashe–who tabbed Azalea for the first remix of her latest single, “All Hands On Deck”–and Nick Jonas, has officially been cancelled. Why? The tour was originally postponed from April to September because Azalea undertook most of the creative direction, and needed more time to get it right. However, this week’s announcement of the cancellation came with no reasoning, though some accredit it to low ticket sales.

More Iggy Azalea Backlash: Petition to Seize “Best Rap Song” Billboard Award

Its looking like 2015 isn’t Iggy Azalea‘s year at all.  She may have won the Billboard award this past Sunday for “Best Rap Song” but music fans aren’t happy about it. Apparently Billboard didn’t follow its own guidelines when it decided to give Iggy the award, and it has music fans upset.  So upset they decided to post petition on change.org to ask Billboard to retract her award. Here is the statement straight from the petition

Retract Iggy Azalea‘s Ineligible Award for “Fancy”

Iggy Azalea’s 2015 Billboard Award for Best Song has been proven invalid. The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. “Fancy” was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting. This is unfair to the other nominees in these category, especially to “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj, who most likely would’ve won. Billboard did not follow their own guidelines and should have to recalculate these nominations without “Fancy” as a nominee.

The petition has over 12,000 thousand signatures, and needs less than 3,000 to reach its goal of 15,000 signatures. To see the petition click here

This isn’t the only petition on the website concerning Iggy either, another petition titled “Get Iggy to stop rapping” is comical. This petition doesn’t have nearly the same support as the Billboard petition, and only 31 signatures but here is the description:

Iggy‘s music has killed the young ears of many humans. Her alien music should be outlawed worldwide from the explosions of garbage. I once downloaded an Iggy Azalea mixtape, and my computer started to smell. I checked what was wrong, and there was shit coming out of my computer. The mixtape was so sh** that my album shi**ed itself. My computer told me to never do that again, but we cool now. Anywho, this “first thing first I’m garbage” bitch ass ni**a is annoying asf.

Lets get her to quit.

Iggy Azalea’s “D.R.U.G.S.” is Decoded, and It’s Sounding Just Like a Kendrick Lamar Verse, Hmmmm….

In case the Internet needed another reason to go at Iggy Azalea, it sounds like Iggy’s “gibberish” was actually her massacring one of K Dot’s verses.  Yikes.   Continue reading Iggy Azalea’s “D.R.U.G.S.” is Decoded, and It’s Sounding Just Like a Kendrick Lamar Verse, Hmmmm….

So, It Seems Like Skeme Had A Hand In Writing Iggy Azalea’s Verses On “Fancy”

Just how much did Iggy Azalea’s pen have to do with her biggest hit?

Much ink has been spilled over Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy,” and whether or not it’s “cultural appropriation” should allow Iggy Azalea to be regarded as an official member of Hip-Hop culture, be nominated for rap Grammys, and a slew of other criticisms, some valid, some just outrageous.

Well, Hip-Hop purists may have just found their extra ammo.

During a “pop-up” Sway In The Morning at SxSW last week, Inglewood rapper Skeme, known most for his well-received Inglewood album, talked with Sway about being a ghostwriter, and the recognition it’s garnered him, including Grammy acknowledgement. Sway then begins to speak on an industry rumor he’d heard, which involved Skeme being a part of the writing process for “Fancy.” More specifically, it was the verses, not the chorus, that Skeme all but explicitly stated he’d had a hand in. At the 4-minute mark of the above clip, you can see Skeme squirm and try to get out of alluding to the fact that he wrote “Fancy,” but fail miserably.
