T.I. Ends Business Relationship With Iggy Azalea

Fresh from releasing a surprise EP Da’Nic last week, the King of the South T.I. paid a visit to Hot 97‘s Ebro In The Morning to discuss his whereabouts in the past few months as well as his plans for the rest of the year. During the conversation, Tip spoke on the success of his reality show The Family Hustle as well as his forthcoming album Dime Trap, slated for release later this year. Staying on the creative front, he also discussed the possible sequel to the film ATL and the red tape he encountered when attempting to bring the film to fruition.

Outside of music and film, T.I. managed to dodge several questions regarding the Meek MillDrake feud, which resulted in the Philadelphia rapper spilling the beans on a T.I. associated who allegedly urinated on Drizzy in the middle of a movie theater. As well as he played keep away on that question, the Atlanta native was very candid about the end of his business relationship with Australian star Iggy Azalea. He explains that he attempted to shield her from the backlash she encountered in the past year, but he waved the white flag after her skirmish with Hip-Hop legend Q-Tip on Twitter.

After the Q-Tip thing… After I kind of had smoothed it over, like okay, ‘What is really meant to be said here is…’ After it was cool, everything was cool, and then they kind of came back and undid what I had just [accomplished],” he said. “I’ma be all the way real, I’m a loyal partner. If I rock with you I’m gon’ rock with you…I really do feel that they [Iggy’s team] just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they [Iggy’s team] can do. They have the talent, they have the charisma.

Street Soldiers: Are You Being Judged By The Color Of Your Skin?

This Sunday 2/23/14 on HOT 97 Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers, we’re talking about: THE COMPLEXION CONNECTION: Are you being judged by the color of your skin instead of who you really are?

Here’s what we’re talking about at 9am this Sunday, February 23rd, 2014 on HOT 97 Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers…. THE COMPLEXION CONNECTION: Are you being judged by the color of your skin instead of who you really are?

StreetSoldiersComplexion“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s Black History Month and we’re talking about the “undercover racism” that occurs when people make false assumptions based on a person’s skin color. We’re covering this issue from different angles and talking about real life situations where stereotypes still seem to prevail:

CRIMINAL: Black customers were allegedly racially profiled in department stores, and treated like criminals despite the fact they did nothing wrong and had plenty of money for their purchases.

HIP HOP MUSIC: Why does it seem that except for a few videos, the video models who are the romantic interest of the star are tending to have lighter and lighter complexions?

SOCIAL LIFE: Do men pay more attention to women with lighter complexions? And do women find men with lighter complexions “hotter” and more desirable?

We’re looking for the following guests:

1) Men and women writers/bloggers who have stories to tell us about what they’ve experienced based on their skin color and how it’s affected their lives. Also, how they’ve coped with it and not let subtle discrimination stand in the way of going after their goals and dreams.

2) A professor of African-American History or Sociology who can give us a perspective of how complexion differences have impacted the lives of Black Americans.

3) A Latino or Latina with a dark complexion who can talk about how this issue exists within Latin cultures.

4) A video casting director or talent agent who will talk openly about who drives the demand for particular looks.

5) A male and a female model/actor who can talk about what they’ve faced in their careers because of their skin color.

If you fit the description and would like to come on the show, or would like to recommend someone for the topic, please reach out to me ASAP via EMAIL: tone4real@gmail.com and I will send you more details. And TUNE into Hot 97 Street Soldiers Every Sunday 9am – 10am

Find Out Why Papoose Hit The Stage Last Night At Summer Jam

Another Summer Jam ends, and as most may know, the most talked about performance wasn’t by French Montana, it wasn’t by our most recent Rookie of the Year Kendrick Lamar, and it wasn’t by New York’s own A$AP Rocky. Brooklyn MC, Papoose had the internet going nuts last night when he hit the stage after Kendrick Lamar to perform his single “Get At Me.”

Fans in attendance looked puzzled when Pap hit the stage, while social media sites like Twitter and Facebook were buzzing about Pap’s impromptu performance. The BK artist even trended worldwide on Twitter yesterday off the performance.

Hot 97’s Program Director Ebro was the first to comment on the situation via Twitter, saying he did not know how Papoose got a chance to sneak in a record after Kendrick. Papoose then replied to Ebro, and the back and forth began from there.

However, on the morning show today on Hot 97 things got cleared up in a way when Ebro stated that Peter Rosenberg was the only one who knew from the station that Pap was going to hit the stage after Kendrick. Check out ‘The Realness’ clip below to find out more about the Papoose incident.

Props to Hot 97.

Funniest Twitter Reactions To Papoose Invading Hot 97 Summer Jam

Word around town says Papoose Lil’ Mama’d Kendrick Lamar last night at Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam concert. Of course you remember when the Brooklyn rapper Lil Mama decided to crash Jay-Z and Alicia Key’s performance of “Empire State Of Mind” at the VMAs a few years ago. Well, last night, somehow, someway, Brooklyn MC Papoose made his way on the main stage at Summer Jam in between K. Dot’s and French Montana’s closing sets. In an absolutely unexpected moment, the rapper picked up a mic and began performing his single, “Get At Me.”

IG and Twitter won’t let him live this down either. Welcome to the meme world, Papoose.

Check out his performance below along with these comical reactions to his appearance at MetLife Stadium.

2 Chainz To Premiere New Single Off Second LP At Summer Jam

The list of reasons why Summer Jam will be a night to remember continues to grow

This Sunday, Hot 97’s Summer Jam will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Summer Jam is considered to be one of the biggest hip-hop events of the year and with the likes of Chris Brown, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Wu-Tang Clan, Miguel and A$AP Rocky all slated to perform, this year’s event is no exception.

If the anticipation surrounding Summer Jam wasn’t already through the roof, 2 Chainz’ latest announcement might just do the trick. Just a bit ago, 2 Chainz took to Twitter to announce that he would be premiering the first single off his upcoming sophomore album at Summer Jam this Sunday. He recently announced the release date of the untitled project which is expected out September 10th.

Nicki Minaj Sits Down With Peter Rosenberg On Hot 97’s Morning Show

“By sheer proxy she made me more poppin” – Peter Rosenberg

Today Young Money’s princess Nicki Minaj appeared on Hot 97‘s The Cipha Sounds & Rosenburg Show with K.Foxx. After a year of going back and forth due to  Nicki not attending last year’s Summer Jam, Peter Rosenberg and Nicki finally hashed out their differences this morning on Hot 97.

Last year, the rapper cancelled her  headlining performance on the Festival stage after Rosenberg made a comment about her crossover hit “Starships.”

When she appeared on the morning show this morning it seemed like she had already gotten over that incident.

“It’s cool. It’s water under the bridge,” Nicki said to Rosenberg. “It was so long ago, I really can’t care.”

After recapping the incident, Nicki threw some shots Rosenberg’s way. “I guess to me, I just don’t know your resume. I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying.”

She continued on to support her single “Starships” and loved the fact that  people look at her as an MC.  From there, she hinted at her next body of work reverts back to that core hip-hop sound that she was once known for.

Take a look at the exclusive interview below as you will hear how they discuss last year’s Summer Jam and the criticism that was brought to the life-size barbie herself.
