It’s the day after Labor Day and you feel awful. Not “I ate the last Dorito” awful but “my body hates me” awful. On your lunch break, pour yourself a green tea, dim the lights, and watch the new visuals from the Portland native, Tre Redeau. “Doja” is the third video to drop from Tre’s last project Kool-Aid Stand. It starts with warm colors that are soft on the eyes. The video switches from That ’70s Show styled smoking sessions indoors to walking around town, all with a slightly blurry yet welcoming feeling. The production is a mix of Curren$y and Cypress Hill, almost like a hybrid of a sativa and an indica.
When asked about the first time he was high, Tre responded:
“Man, it was crazy. I was outside a kickback when we smoked, and it hit me immediately after I inhaled the smoke. Then I slowly made my way back into the party. Grabbed a tub of liquorice and put “Party Life” by Jay Z on repeat. I still don’t know why they had red vines there but they were live at that moment. I was definitely gone in my own world and nobody changed the song.”
Also Tre has been kind enough to host a contest for you to win a pair of Grey Nike Air Yeezy 2’s. Head to his website for the full rules.
Bryan Hahn is on break for the rest of the day. He’s on Twitter (@notupstate).

Funk Volume is one of the most successful labels in music today. They have stayed completely independent, have signed multiple XXL Freshmen, and have consistently killed the business end of things. This year will be no different. They have hinted that every artist on their roster will be releasing music this year, and that kicked off with Jarren Benton, who dropped a new project this past week titled, Slow Motion EP Volume 1.
This is a departure stylistically from what his music is normally like, but it is not a change for the worse.
Much of the EP’s production has been taken care of by Kato, Benton’s go to for beats. The guest-list of artist features includes Hopsin, Jon Connor, SwizZz, Hemi, Sy Ari Da Kid, Rock City, Mayday!, and Sareena Dominguez.

Famsquad unveils the visuals for their latest, the Keeynote produced “Vegas Lights,” from their upcoming Sport Coat Music EP. Famsquad gets an assist from Dizzy Wright and Peter Hadar, but due to Dizzy’s touring schedule he wasn’t able to film for the vid, so his verse contains a performance from model Tyomi Morgan.

Nevada and New York, Dizzy Wright and Bishop Nehru, respectively, link for the LRG Clothing Summer 14 campaign and today often looked over MCs released the BrILLantYouth EP. Yes, we’re surprised, too. But, wait it gets better, the three track EP has backdrops provided by North Carolina beat-smith, 9th Wonder.
On “Wreckin’ Crew,” Dizzy sets the lyrical tone with introspective raps like, “If you ain’t watch the growth/Then watch how the f*** you portray the vision/I’ma boss because of the thoughts behind my decisions.”
Then on the head-knocking track, “BrILLant Youth,” the Mass AppealRecordsignee, Bishop Neuhru assaults the track as he raps: “Is it back to charging mother**** a leg and an arm?/Motherf***** got the right to bear arms/So, I rightfully aim off/When it comes to it, n****, I’m lyrically O-Dog.” And, on “Isolated” the two MCs mull over their come up in life and hip-hop.
For nostalgic hip-hop lovers BrILLiant Youth is a piece of work that should find its way into your collection.

Because we love a good party track with a video that matches
“Live by the three M’s: Maintain, Mary Jane, Make Art and enjoy ya days off.” Dizzy couldn’t have said it better. Off his State of Mind EP that was released back in April, Dizzy Wright drops the visual to “Reunite For The Night”, a feel good song with the potential to be a summer anthem. The video; red cups, women and a DJ. Basically a really huge, dope house party. The visual is perfect for the chill track produced by Roc N Mayne and just in time for your Memorial Day turn up. Enjoy!
Funk Volume‘s Dizzy Wright is back with a brand new video off his latest EP, State of Mind. This is the first visual we’ve seen from the project and it’s right in line with the high quality-dopeness Dizzy brings with each music video. Produced by MLB, Everywhere I Go has the Vegas-native dropping bars and simultaneously repping his hometown, letting the fans know that no matter where he ends up, he knows where he came from. You know it wouldn’t be that simple, hence the choice-array of beautiful women and soapy cars.
This man’s come a long way and gathered hundreds of thousands of more fans since dropping his virally-acclaimed The Golden Age mixtape last year. Dizzy Wright is one of the few cats in the game today that I follow without a sidestep, everything he’s put out can be rocked to in a multitude of situations. So if you’ve made it this far into the post, I suggest you keep going and see what you discover.
“I turned my passion into my paycheck.” The opening line from “State Of Mind” sets the tone for Dizzy Wright’s new EP. Dizzy Wright has done a great job of building himself and his music is refreshing to hear in the current state of hip-hop. Sounding more dedicated and motivated than ever, Dizzy Wright rewards fans with 7 brand new tracks to enjoy. With only one feature coming from Rockie Fresh, Dizzy Wright showcases his energetic, metaphor-filled flow that sets him apart from other artists out there. Dizzy Wright’s “State Of Mind” EP lets us know that Dizzy Wright is focused and delivering some of his best music to date.
IAMSU! and the Heartbreak Gang have been tearing up the streets recently, bringing the Bay national attention and garnering a lot of record deal meetings. This past weekend, they unleashed their limited edition Pink Dolphin clothing line, The Heartbreak Camo Pack. While only a select few were able to come away with the new digs and accompanying EP, the collective took to their Soundcloud to share the new music with the world. Camo is a short tape, only three tracks long, but it features quality features from Dizzy Wright and Sage the Gemini. The San Francisco rhymer only has one solo song, but it should hold fans over until he drops his next project later this month. Give it a quick listen and tell us what you think.
