Going into Saturday night’s welterweight title fight between the undefeated Floyd Mayweather and number one contender Andre Berto, the excitement was a mere blip compared to the monstrosity that was Mayweather-Pacquiao. The champion indicated that this fight, which is the final one on his 6 fight deal with Showtime, would be his final bout in a long illustrious career.
Berto on the other hand, who had lost few of his previous bouts, was a 30-1 underdog based on Vegas oddsmakers. From the opening bell, it was very clear that Berto, though a talented fighter, was in way over his head against the crafty Mayweather. For boxing fans with a bloodlust for brawlers and knockouts, this was not one of their favorites, as for fanatics of the pure science of boxing, this was another impressive and masterful outing by the champ.
Floyd cruised to a very easy victory as he ducked, dodged and tagged Berto with punches, even dancing his way to the corner a on few occasions, as well as speaking to fans in the crowd mid-fight. Some of the highlights of the bout actually came from social media, as former champion Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao took to their accounts and comically weighed in on how bored they are of the fight.
If this is truly Floyd’s final fight, which many are saying it is not, he has had one of most distinguished careers of any athlete on the face of the planet. If he looks for one more fight, it would give him the opportunity to have the best record in boxing history, as he currently stands tied at 49-0 with boxing legend Rocky Marciano. But if he does move ahead with another, who shall the opponent be? Amir Kahn or a rematch with Pacquiao? Only time will tell.

The officials at World Boxing Organizations lands a major knockout blow to the icon known as “Money Mayweather”
Just months after the “fight of the century”, officials at the WBO have decided to bring the hammer down on Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. The #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world has failed to comply with organization rules. Coming into the May 2nd bout, Floyd was the reigning WBC and WBA world welterweight champ. After defeating Manny Pacquaio with a unanimous decision on May 2nd, the WBO have ordered Mayweather to decided which weight class he wants to continue to hold the title . After a 2 month delay, the WBO had a committee meeting to vote on whether to strip Floyd for the championship we won from the Pac-Man. After the meeting, they decided to strip him from the title belt. After Mayweather heard news about the decision, he had this to say
I’ll talk to my team and see what we need to do. Other fighters need a chance. Give other fighters a chance. I’m not greedy. I’m a world champion in two different weight classes. It’s time to let other fighters fight for the belt.
After the announcement, the WBO have announced that the June 27th bout between Timothy Bradley Jr. and Jessie Vargas. The decision could be changed and be in the favor for Floyd if Mayweather pays the $220,000 fee and to vacate the junior middleweight belts. The clocking is ticking over at the Money Team camp as Floyd’s next fight is expected to be scheduled for Sept. 12.

Iron Mike’s dislike of Money Mayweather stems back to 2001….what could the champ have done to piss off Brownsville’s bruiser?
Animosity was at a all time high for Floyd Mayweather during his preparation to defeat Manny Pacquaio in the biggest fight of the century. As fans began to choose sides on who they wanted to win, many people expressed a strong sense of dislike of the type of character he presented to the world. A lot of fans don’t take kindly to the champ because they believe Floyd is too arrogant and flashy. Theres one boxing pro who particularly has major beef with the champ and was recently very outspoken regarding the reason. The person I’m referring to is the champ “Iron” Mike Tyson.
Back in 2001, Mike claims that Floyd instructed a female to file a police report stating Tyson had kidnapped and raped her in his home. Tyson gave a brief synopsis of what occurred the night he received news about the police report in his autobiography book entitled Undisputed Truth. The former heavyweight champ went on to say,
They began to tear my house apart — room by room, box by box, paper by paper.”
Even though this occurred over a decade ago, Tyson still had some strong words to say about Floyd, labeling the undisputed champion as a “small and delusional” man. He continued the attack on Floyd by giving his two cents about Mayweather’s claim to believe he is the greatest of all time…
Listen, if he was anywhere near that realm of greatness with Ali he’d be able to take his kids to school by himself. He can’t take his kids to school by himself, and he’s talking about he’s great? Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people, greatness is being accepted by the people. He can’t take his kids alone to school by himself. He’s a little, scared man. He’s a very small, scared man. The guy is going around saying he is better than (Muhammad) Ali. I don’t want to hear that (expletive).”
As Mayweather lives to see another day as a well paid, undefeated champ, it is looking like he has one more war to finish before he can relax freely. The opinionated Mike Tyson is never shy to let the truth be told and with the outer ring history of Floyd that involves females, it’s safe to say the champ should do some clearing up as quickly as possible. No one’s reputation should be tarnished due to some poor decisions being made. Hopefully, this minor spill is just the short abrupt end to what may considered as the clash of ego’s as both of these great fighters will forever be apart of boxing history as the most controversial, most praised and most dominant champs of all time.
