New Trailer for Madden ’16 release featuring Odell Beckham Jr.

After winning the EA sports Madden cover vote, Giants wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr, stars in the game’s promotional trailer. The 2015 Rookie of the Year was able to defeat Super Bowl Champion tight end, Rob Gronkowski, earlier in the year. Beckham Jr was introduced to the world on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, where he proceeded to break the internet. That moment seemed to wake up the sports world and propelled the rookie into stardom. Got to wait to see if Beckham can get the exclusive 99 rating in the game. Check out the video below.

Anthony Davis, James Harden, and Stephen Curry to Grace Cover of ‘NBA 2K16’

The group cover is back

In 2013, NBA 2K sported 3 superstars on their cover: Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose, and went on to place one of those stars–Kevin Durant–by himself on the cover of the game two years later, on NBA 2K15. This year, three people grace the cover once again.

MVP and MVP runner-up, Stephen Curry and James Harden, grace the cover of NBA 2K16 along with Anthony Davis, who just had a breakout year that had him in the MVP conversation for much of the regular season, before the race was pretty much whittled down to Curry and Harden. The game will also feature direction from Spike Lee, who took charge of the MyCareer mode, which is quickly beoming the 2K franchise’s most popular draw.

It’s only the second time the game has featured three cover athletes on the same cover. In 2012, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were all cover stars, but they each had their own individual covers.

Nintendo coming to iOS and Android

Super Mario Mobile?

Nintendo has announced their recent partnership with Japanese company DeNA (Marvel War of Heroes, Star Wars Galactic Defense) in order to bring their iconic characters like Mario and Luigi to Android and iOS devices. The terms of the partnership include creating new games and launch an online membership service for mobile devices.

“This will allow us to build a bridge between smart devices and gaming consoles,” Reuters quoted Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata at their press conference. “It doesn’t mean smart devices will eat away at gaming consoles, it will create an entirely new type of demand.” Very true. Whilst the loyal long-term gamers stick to video game systems and PCs, this new development will bring in new generation users aka kids who are using tablets and mobile devices rather than spending time playing systems.

As part of the deal, Nintendo and DeNA will buy 22 billion yen ($181 million) worth of shares in each other; Nintendo will own approximately 10% of DeNA while the mobile gaming company will own approximately 1.25% of Nintendo. Not bad indeed.

Let’s face it, it’s 2015 and the latest toys are tablets and smartphones. The popularity of the “freemium” gaming model (where games are free to download and players pay for virtual online currency or extra lives) and low-cost downloadable games have profited many heavyweights like Sony, and Microsoft. As the ownership of smarphones goes up, the demand for mobile gaming increases: it only makes sense for companies like Nintendo to capitalize on the opportunity.

Xbox And PlayStation Experience Cyber Attacks On Christmas

Attacks on Microsoft and Sony internet platforms disabled services on Christmas Day, making it difficult for users to log on

A message on the Xbox status page on Friday said that live core services were “up and running”. Meanwhile, PlayStation said its engineers were continuing to work on “network issues”. The outage has stopped people from accessing some of the core services, such as registering a new account, connecting with other people to play the same game, and connecting to entertainment channels via the console.

A hacking group called Lizard Squad claimed to have caused the problems. Lizard Squad is vocal, taunting and a bit obnoxious on Twitter, where it has taken credit for taking down a number of high-profile targets, including the Vatican’s website, Sony’s PlayStation network, and League of Legends.

There are 48 million subscribers to Microsoft’s system for the Xbox and more than double that for the PlayStation system, which has some 110 million. Earlier this month Sony was hit by a hacking attack that stole huge amounts of data from its servers. A connection between Sony movie The Interview, about a fictional plot to assassinate North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, and the service disruptions has not been confirmed.
